70% Indian Gamers Use PC Gaming Over Mobile, HP Finds in Its Study
According to HP, the leading laptop and PC manufacturer, almost 70% of Indian gamers use gaming on their PC or personal computers instead of smartphones.
Most percentages of surveyed users agreed on the top three factors. Gaming PCs give them better versatility and customization features than any gaming device, such as mobile. Gaming PCs can be designed by selecting reliable parts to squeeze performance out of the most demanding titles. Moreover, it also facilitates external peripherals.
Vickram Bedi, Senior Director, Personal System, HP India, said the huge preference for PC gaming indicates a big business opportunity for us. He added that they focus on providing the best experiences based on the insights to give a more holistic and advanced gaming ecosystem to Indian users.

This study also reflected that 29% of female games consider gaming a serious career option. 39% still don’t consider it a full-time or viable alternative. On top of that, 5% are still unsure about their gaming career, whereas 27% said they take gaming as a part-time career or side gig. All in all, around 56% percent see it as a potential alternative to an ideal career.
Mr. Bedi added that as the gaming industry is evolving in India, it’s promising to know that it’s being considered a career option. 2% of gamers who survived said they didn’t have any formal education or training in gaming. 32% of them highlighted they learned gaming by following popular gaming channels or streamers.

Additionally, about 92% of gamers said they consider gaming because it’s entertaining and relaxing, 58% said it improves their mental agility, and 52% use gaming to connect with different people online (to socialize).
As many as 53% of gamers are to make their career in gaming, whereas 20% are here to do influencer-type work in this industry. About 18% vote was secured for making a career in software development, and 8% voted to go into streaming. A 2% vote was received to make a career in animation.
HP India’s survey team talked and surveyed about 2010 Indian gamers from 14 tier-1 and 2 cities in India. Whereas 75% of the survey participants were male, and 25% of them were female from the age group of 18 to 14 years old.
