People are searching “how to” do things, whether is how to cook the chicken or how to drive a car. And a content writer (writer) you help these people by writing how-to blogs for them.

Also, you how to blog can rank on google for a featured snippet. Do you know what’s featured snippet is a short in-point description of your how-to blog?

In this blog, I will try to explain how to write a how-to blog and share some tips you should focus on.

In many niches, how-to blogs are searching for examples

For solving a school or college question like

How to write an essay or

How to score well in exams

Step-by-step advice or instruction to the user, i.e.

How to create a YouTube channel or

How to use python for coding

Thinking guidance to achieve something, for example,

How to increase sales to 10% in the next financial year or

How to compete with the competitors in the actual market place

So, now you have clarity about which kind of blog we are going to write on effectively. In short, this is the blog where I am going to share my strategy for how I write a how-to blog for a blog post.

First- I search in google about the topic, I will write about

Second- I see the top 3–4 websites that are ranking on the same keywords also see their domain authority and word count.

Third- What I analyzed my competitor’s websites? I just take an overview of the content written by them, I search for the topics they have included and missed as well.

Fourth- I use a google keyword planner to search for low competition and high search volume keywords with suggested keywords as well.

Fifth- I create an excel sheet with keywords, search volume, and competition level

What else I do is try to understand who is going to read my article or blog post, and I also consider the buyer persona? This is important as this helps me to write engaging content.

I take time and to be very honest; I take much time to write a 1000–1500 words blog or article. As I’m not an expert and have just a few months' experiences, but working with my freelance clients. I think this is because I write content with my focus.

So, this was just an outline of my content which is ready now.

So, let’s start the blog writing part.

A blog contains its three elements that are introduction, body, and conclusion.

Introduction:

As we all know that in the introduction, we need to give a succinct description of the content we are writing. But do you know what should we include in it? In the introduction I include and you also include the following :

Tell reason that from where you get the inspiration

Tell the user what you will cover and on what term you are writing about.

You should clarify the term means the key topic to the reader for better understanding another wise they will skip it.

Also, define the importance of the topic which will key the reader engaged.

Tips: your introduction should not be over 200 words, it should be short and easy to understand.

How-to part of the body of content:

This is the longest part of the blog where we need to write the steps. You should keep separate paragraphs for each step because it will be easy to understand for the reader and good for SEO points of view. It will also help to look your content clean and you can add images or videos to make it more professional and more detailed. This is also important, as this keeps your reader engaged with your blog.

As this is the longest part of the content so, we need to clear the topic, providing a step-by-step guide that should be accurate as this is going to build the trust of the reader. Also, add some examples to make it more comprehensive.

Please don’t forget to add a few pro tips or some extra advice. Now, you will think about why this is important. Well, this is helpful for those readers who have a bit confused over the pre-mentioned section. So, this can solve their query, it should be short.

Though, this is optional if you think fit that your content is more than sufficient, then it’s OK to skip this.

Conclusion:

Make sure your ending paragraph or closing should amaze and a short, maybe one or two lines of what you have discussed with them through your content. And also hint your readers to the other relevant resources which are beneficial for them.

Pro tips:

1) I would like to share up some pro tips you might like that

2) You should prepare the outline of the content after doing competitor and keyword research.

3) Please, do not copy any content if you want to write on that topic, then read, understand, feel and then write.

4) Blog writing or any type of writing takes time. So, write on your favorite topics only because if you go for another niche, then you will leave in between.

5) And the last of your pro tips should not be over 5, right?

So, this was the format that I follow to write the ‘How-to’ type of content. Hope you have liked and understood this. If you have suggestions, then please comment.
