Indian Economy Will Slip to ‘Fragile Five’ If Congress Manifesto Implement, Said FM Nirmala Sitharaman
If Congress’s manifesto is implemented, the Indian economy, which currently ranks in the top five globally, would slip to fragile five, said Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In her statement, she claimed that the poll document is more akin to a Muslim League document and its the BJP’s duty towards the nation to question this poll document issued by Congress.
Sitharaman’s statement comes against the backdrop of the announcement of an economic survey and x-ray of society by Rahul Gandhi and the recent allegation from the BJP that Congress is aiming for the redistribution of wealth if it comes into power.
It’s the worst manifesto which is not in the interest of the nation, Nirmala Sitharama added further.

In discussion with select journalists in Pune, the Union Finance Minister wondered if Congress has conducted necessary financial planning or not to fulfill its assurance mentioned in the poll document.
She further added, I know they are not coming to power but I would still like to ask, even if the subject of the congress manifesto were to be implemented, has Congress done the homework on expenditure required to fulfill the promises listed on the manifesto.
Giving reference to Congress-ruled Karnataka, the FM said that the Congress attempted to implement the promises made during elections even knowing they had no funds. The deputy chief minister of Karnataka publicly accepted that they were left with no funds needed for development because the money was spent on fulfilling the five promises made during the elections.
She further said that this is just about one state. If similar promises or measures were implemented across the country, the economy which is currently ranked among the top five globally and anticipated to rank in the top three in a couple of years, would decline to fragile five.
