Under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the government has unveiled a robust strategy to train 5,000 cyber commandos over the next five years. This initiative is a direct response to the escalating cybercrime across the country.

During the first Foundation Day event of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Union Home Minister Amit Shah underscored the crucial role of cybersecurity in national security and development.

He made it clear that no single institution can safeguard cyberspace alone. He stressed the need for all stakeholders to unite on a single platform and work in unison to protect cyberspace.

I4C CEO Rajesh Kumar said that the cyber crime helpline portal registers 67,000 calls daily, and security agencies recognize 1500–2000 mule accounts used to defraud people regularly.

The Union Home Minister also stated that a separate Cyber Suspect Registry for every state would not serve any purpose in countries like India because states have boundaries, but not cybercriminals have the same. They told them time demands to create a national-level Suspect Registry and connect states with it to create a common platform to fight cybercrime.

Mr. Shah highlighted the purpose of CFMC by stating the ideal brings the banks, financial institutions, telecom companies, Internet service providers, and police on a single platform. He also said that the biggest success of I4C is the 1930 national helpline number and the responsibility of all state governments and stakeholders to make it popular across the country.
